What to Include in Your Winter Weather Emergency Car Kit:
- Collapsable or mini shovel
- De-icer
- Winter gloves and hat (you lose most of your body heat from your head!)
- Blankets
- Snow brush/Ice scraper
- Hand warmers
- Rock salt

- Flashlight
- Matches or lighter (to melt snow for drinking water)
- Water container/empty water bottle
- Tow rope
- Roadside kit
- High-calorie non-perishable food

Other Tips:
Keep your gas tank full - This obviously keeps your vehicle running for as long as possible. That's important because it will probably take you a little longer to get home this winter. Having a full tank of gas also maximizes the time you're able to keep the heat on should traffic come to a stand-still.
Let others know your plans- Try not to travel alone, but if you do, be sure to let someone know where you're going, what route you plan to take, and what time you expect to get there.
