Touch-A-Truck is an event that takes place in many cities each year, where local businesses and municipal services send their trucks for kids to, well, touch! Kids can get in the driver's seat (with the proper help and supervision, of course) of school busses, construction vehicles, tractor-trailers, ambulances, and so many different types of trucks! There is also plenty of horn beeping, brake pressing, and lever pulling.
Explore & More Children's Museum provides high-quality play-based learning for children from all over Western New York and beyond. They currently serve 60,000 children and their family members each year. Explore & More strives to make the Touch-A-Truck event as inclusive as possible, so they invite as many volunteers as possible to keep the admission cost low for local families. They even provided tickets free of charge to some families who may not have been able to afford them otherwise. With nationally recognized and award-winning programs and exhibits, and a mission to provide critically important informal learning experiences for all, Explore & More has become an important asset to the well-being of children and families in Western New York.
Valu Crew volunteers take an active role in bettering the communities that we serve, and amaze our customers with their hard work and dedication. This initiative puts the do-it-yourself knowledge of the Valu Home Centers Team in action through service to our community. It's always an added perk when our volunteers happen to help out at an event as fun as Touch-a-Truck!
Our volunteers really enjoyed seeing all of the 2,000+ kids and their families enjoying all of the trucks, but that doesn't mean only the little ones had all the fun! With such great weather, and so many awesome vehicles to check out, there was no shortage of things to see and do at Touch-a-Truck 2017.
