Valu Crew Gives A Hand Up To Habitat For Humanity

We are incredibly proud to announce our new volunteer program, Valu Crew!

Members of the Valu Home Centers team are donating their time and rolling up their sleeves to work toward bettering the communities that we serve. By completing hands-on projects we will show our customers that we are committed to giving back by going right out and doing it!

Our first Valu Crew community service project was on May 11, 2016 in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Buffalo.

Valu Home Centers has been a proud partner of Habitat for Humanity since 1993. Over the past 23 years, together with our generous customers, we have donated over $3.4 million to support Habitat for Humanity in providing decent housing for families in need. In addition to fundraising, we encourage our customers to become Habitat for Humanity volunteers. What better way to convince others to ‘give a hand up’ than to lead by example?

We spent the day working on a home for a family in need in Buffalo’s Bailey Green neighborhood, which is part of a comprehensive project to revitalize the East Side.

Bailey Green is looking to revamp the neighborhood with not only new businesses and landscaping, but also new homes, greenhouses and community gardens, soccer pitches, a career training center, and a park. Valu Crew worked hard all day to help construction crews with two new homes being built on Wende Street.

Thank you to our media partner, WKBW - Channel 7 Buffalo who joined us for this inaugural event.

Habitat for Humanity is always seeking volunteers. No matter your skill level, or how much time you are able to commit, there is a project waiting for you! Did you know that Habitat homeowners complete hundreds of hours of sweat equity working to build their new house? That means you'll sometimes be working right beside the family who will be living in the home once it's completed. To get involved in Buffalo, visit the Habitat for Humanity Buffalo website. For all other areas, visit the Habitat for Humanity International website, and search for your zip code.
