About us

Known for its product quality and tremendous service, Brownsboro Hardware & Paint opened in the fall of 1960 at 4858 Brownsboro Road in Louisville, Kentucky.

Jim and Marilyn Lehrer became the owners of the beloved local hardware and paint store in June of 1998. They expanded the original store in 2008 and added retail square footage. In 2011, the Lehrers added a location in Prospect that services not only hardware and paint needs but also provides a greenhouse filled with a variety of plants and landscaping equipment.

In October 2021, The Lehrers sold Brownsboro Hardware & Paint to longtime manager Doug Carroll, ensuring continued local ownership and a strong focus on customer service.

Our experienced staff of 30+ has over 400 years of combined hardware expertise to help with your every need! This includes our employees in our U.S. Post Office located right in the Hardware Store on Brownsboro Road. We pride ourselves on providing each and every customer with excellent service and value every time they visit us here at Brownsboro Hardware & Paint.

At Brownsboro Hardware & Paint we are proud to say that in addition to being committed to excellent service and value, we are passionate about giving back to our community. Alongside yearly donations to various local charities we have had wonderful relationships with several charitable events that benefit our community.

Annual Big Green EGGFest

Started in 2008, our annual Big Green EGGFest has raised more than $200,000  for different charities and has grown into a well known event in Louisville.

We also have been involved in a variety of charitable and civic causes, including Wreaths Across America, Toys for Tots, the Oldham County Humane Society, Adopt-A-Mile, and others. We strongly believe in giving back to the community. 

Brownsboro Hardware & Paint is also dedicated to keeping Louisville local. In order to show our support of local organizations we are a proud member of the Louisville Independent Business Alliance and the Prospect Area Chamber of Commerce. We also are a proud member of the Better Business Bureau, and an accredited member for nearly 20 years.
