Gun Club Road Construction Testimonial

Gun Club Road Construction

Tommy Padgett of Gun Club Road Construction has been a loyal customer of Bender Lumber for many years. Tommy understands loyalty is a two-way street. The partnership between contractor and supplier must be strong on both sides to create a winning scenario.

Tommy got off to a fast start right out of high school. Tommy’s father cosigned with the local bank which allowed him to build his first home for his wife and young family. This first build for his loved ones gave young Tommy the confidence to take up carpentry as his trade.

Tommy worked for the next five years until the situation changed in the union. It was then Tommy decided to leave the security of the union to start his own concrete company. Admittedly, Tommy was lacking in Business experience. It was a strong work ethic handed down from his father that carried him through.

Tommy tried to learn something new each day. This openness to learning produced a well-rounded tradesman with the skills to build a home from the ground up. Even while Tommy was involved in his concrete business, he would gain contracts on roofing, framing and pole buildings.

Tommy gives much credit to his success to his father, Billy Padgett, but also local and fellow contractor, Morris Bennett. Morris often helped Tommy make “common sense” decisions as they often partnered together on construction projects.

When asked why he has been loyal to Bender Lumber all these years he said, “Bender Lumber has always had ‘Good People’. People like veteran Dan Leach, and now the newest employee Salesman, Rob Charles.” Tommy jokingly said, “Rob has come a long way over the last 6 months. He may not know everything, but he is willing to find out.”

Gun Club Road Construction’s future depends on Cody, Tommy’s son who is learning from dad just like Tommy. It is with great gratitude that we at Bender Lumber thank Tommy Padgett for the loyalty and mentorship he has shown us over the last 30 plus years. Tommy is not done and has no regrets. Sure, there could have been more, however, he would do it all over again. “Work has been a joy.”
