The seal and check kit contains 2 materials used to install a gas connector and ultimately hook up your gas appliance. The pipe thread sealant is used to seal Male to Female pipe threads. Note: Never Use on Flare Components. The leak detection solution is applied (poured) on the joints of a gas installation to detect unsafe seals in the component-to-component connections (shut-off valve to adapter to gas connector, and gas connector to adapter to appliance regulator). Bubbles in the soution will indicate a leak. The pipe thread sealant is preferred over gas PTFE tape because of its fluidity - it seals up the crevices of the Male to Female thread engagement and provides a better seal. The leak detection solution chosen for the kit does not contain soap or detergents, so it will not give a false reading (bubble without a leak). |
